Weight Training For Women & Osteoporosis

Many women are afraid that training with weights will make them bulky and make them somehow lose their femininity, whereas nothing could be further from the truth. Though many think that weights are for men, women actually need it more than their male counterparts do. For one, women have less bone and muscle than men, so they need to do everything possible to ensure that they care of what they've got. This is why women are at greater risk of osteoporosis than men and lost muscle puts women at greater risk of disability as they get older.


What weight training also does is help firm up the female body to give that toned and tight look that so many spend years trying fruitlessly to achieve, but is only achievable from training with weights. You can do a search for more articles on the forum on why weights are important for women, but the bottom line is that if you really want to look great and be flab free- you need a good high intensity weight training program.

And don't worry about looking like a bodybuilder. Women don't have enough testosterone to create big, bulky muscles like the oversized women you usually see in the magazines and on TV. To look like that you will need a lot of time and a lot of drugs! So pick up some weights and start pumping iron!
